This is my journey from being a journalism student in Egypt to managing my work and social life in Germany. I am Jasmin Bauomy, a movie maniac, a slightly confused social media fan, a naive political sceptic and a multimedia journalist. What's different here? I am half-Egyptian, half-German and grew up alternating between both countries. Therefore I continue to be torn between Middle Eastern traditionalism, frustration with the Middle Eastern political landscape and German political progress.
